Juvenile Services Education Program

The Juvenile Services Education (JSE) program provides educational services to youths detained and committed by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS). JSE administers educational services in 14 DJS facilities statewide.

According to COMAR 13A05.11.10, to "actively advocate and promote the interests of educational programs and opportunities in the programs of the Department of Juvenile Services" and to "…review the effectiveness of the program of educational instruction."

                 All are welcome to attend!


Currently, JSE staff provides core instruction in Mathematics, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science in seven detention and seven treatment facilities. Various Career Technology Education (CTE) courses are offered as well, including Business Administration and Management, Personal Finance, C-Tech, Career Research & Development, and ServSafe Food Protection Certification. General Equivalency Diploma (GED) preparation programs are also provided.
