Individual must complete an Application for Certificate from the Maryland State Department of Education and an Application for Criminal History Records Check from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
For each individual seeking employment with local school systems in positions requiring a certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education, the local school system superintendent or designee must submit a complete Application For Certificate and a copy of a complete disclosure statement page of the Application For Criminal History Records Check. A complete disclosure statement page will include a signed and dated disclosure statement, a certification signature with date. the signature of person taking finger prints with date, and the finger prints of the applicant.
The original copy of the Application for Criminal History Records Check will be forwarded to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services for processing.
The local school system superintendent will notify the St ate Superintendent when the results of a criminal background investigation reveal an applicant has been convicted of. pleaded guilty or nolo contendere with respect to. or received probation before judgment with respect to a crime against children or a crime of violence. The local school system superintendent will also notify the State Superintendent when an applicant files a false report or record about a material matter in the Application for Certificate.
Upon notification by the local school system superintendent, the Assistant State Superintendent for the Division of Certification and Accreditation will follow procedures outlined in CQMAR 13A.12.05 for suspension or revocation of certificate. |
