The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) has developed a unique partnership with the World Bank Institute to facilitate yearlong teleconferences with Maryland principals and educational leaders around the world for the purpose of discussing promising practices, research, and policies on selected issues. In addition, two members of the Division for Leadership Development are on the teaching faculty of the World Bank Institute, and in that capacity, they teach issues related to policy, standards, and certification to Ministers of Education from developing countries.
