Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, Nancy S. Grasmick received the National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) Presidential Citation during its recent 19th Annual Conference held in Baltimore. Dr. Grasmick addressed more than 1,000 school resource officers and educators during the NASRO conference about what Maryland is doing to provide safe learning environments for all students.
The Presidential Citation recognizes the State Superintendent for her “unselfish dedication and support to the National Association of School Resource Officers 19th annual conference.”
This was the first time NASRO brought its annual conference to Maryland. The conference theme this year was the “Universal Concern of Bullying,” with a goal of providing a national forum to discuss opportunities and challenges related to implementing and sustaining effective School Resource Officer (SRO) programs nationally.
“I’m honored to receive NASRO’s Presidential Citation and appreciate the partnership the Maryland State Department of Education shares with NASRO,” said Dr. Grasmick. “In Maryland, we remain steadfastly committed to ensuring that all our schools provide a safe environment for all educators, students, and administrators.”
The Mission of NASRO is to collaborate with certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the community to offer law related educational programs in the schools in an effort to reduce crime, drug abuse, and violence, while providing a safe school environment.
