Lori W. Riordan, Vice President of Government Affairs,
Comcast Beltway Region
Chris Truffer, Director of School Performance,

WHAT: In celebration of national Parent Involvement Day and American Education Week, Comcast and MSDE will launch the Comcast Parent Involvement Matters Award program. This will mark the third year that Comcast and MSDE have partnered in shining a spotlight on the importance of parent involvement, honoring parents who have made significant contributions in public education. Maryland is the only state in the nation with such an award program highlighting the positive impact parents have on public schools and encouraging all parents to get involved in whatever way they can.
The event will highlight the accomplishments of Annapolis Middle School’s various parent involvement initiatives, including Kids at Hope and Moveable Feast. These two school-based programs were implemented just this year at the school but have already had tremendous impact in creating a positive, welcoming school environment for students and parents.
Annapolis Middle School is an International Baccalaureate Middle Years school whose 3-D Enterprises—a student business enterprise sponsored in conjunction with parents and staff—won two awards last school year; one from MSDE and the other from Anne Arundel County.
