Collington Square School is a Baltimore Curriculum Project charter school, which serves pre-kindergarten through grade eight in East Baltimore. Collington Square began as a regular neighborhood public school that converted to charter while remaining in the existing facility and continuing to serve the neighborhood that is zoned to it. The school uses a challenging curriculum (combining Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge) that emphasizes reading, writing, mathematics, geography, history, science, and world civilization. Classes are small and faculty members are supported by a comprehensive system of coaching.  An after-school program offers a wide range of activities for students in grade one and above. A new state-of-the art library will open in the spring of 2006.  Principal Harold Eason promotes student achievement through a longer school day that includes increased academic time as well as an advisory curriculum that exposes students to new experiences through partnerships with Outward Bound and Junior Achievement.
