Judith Adkins, 5th Grade Teacher
Church Hill Elementary School, Queen Anne's County

Judy Adkins is a graduate of Queen Anne's County High and Salisbury State College. She has been teaching for thirty and has spent the last nine years at Church Hill Elementary School as a fifth grade teacher and a reading and math tutor. She hosts her own television program once a week promoting reading on QACTV Channel 7 and broadcasts a weekly 15-minute radio talk show on WNAV. Judy believes that effective teachers are facilitators or guides. The most effective teacher sets the conditions, provides the tools, puts forth the challenge, and inspires students to be learners. She believes strongly in the concept of the classroom as a community. A visitor to her classroom will see a blend of individual and cooperative learning activities along with a blend of teacher led and student led learning activities. She is truly an asset to Queen Anne's County Public Schools.
