Maryland’s school improvement efforts include setting high standards for student achievement, measuring academic progress, publicly reporting each school’s performance annually, and taking action when schools are not making adequate progress.
Maryland measures academic progress each year by administering the Maryland School Assessment, the Alternate Maryland School Assessment (for students with disabilities), and the Maryland High School Assessments. If you would like to learn more about these assessments, use the Testing menu on the top or left-hand side of this page. Scores from state assessments are posted on www.mdreportcard.org. The testing calendar is available as an MS Word document or as an Adobe PDF. Instructional information on MSA and HSA, including sample test items, is available on mdk12.org: MSA Sample Items, HSA Sample Items.
