What is the Maryland Teacher Technology Inventory?
The Maryland
Teacher Technology Inventory (MTTI) is a tool which has been designed to help
determine the technology knowledge and skills of Maryland teachers, including
library media specialists. The inventory is based on the Maryland Teacher
Technology Standards, which were accepted by the Maryland State Board of
Education in 2002. The inventory was created through the work of a
federally funded grant provided by the Maryland State Department of Education.
Data from the inventory will be used by the Maryland State Department of
Education to satisfy its federal reporting requirements and by local school
systems to plan professional development opportunities. All data will be
treated confidentially.
The inventory will not be used to evaluate the performance of teachers.
It is intended to be used only for determining where professional
development is needed in meeting the Maryland Teacher Technology Standards.

Who should complete the MTTI?
To be an effective professional development tool, all professional staff in a school should complete the MTTI.
Will my principal be able to find out my results?
No. Inventory results cannot be traced to a specific individual. You will be required to select 3 demographic questions: school system name, school name, and your position (classroom teacher, library media specialist, other); all other demographic information is optional.
How do I know which position I should select?
If you are a full-time professional school staff member who provides instruction to students and maintains daily student attendance records then you should select Teacher.
If you are a professional staff member and/or supervisor assigned specific duties and school time for professional library and media service activities including selecting, acquiring, preparing, cataloging, and circulating books and other printed materials; planning the use of library and media services by students, teachers and other members of the instructional staff; and guiding individuals in their use of media services and library materials then you should select Library Media Specialist.
If you don't fit either of the above definitions then you should select Other.
When should the MTTI be completed?
The window for the MTTI is March 2 through May 15. School systems have the option of selecting a start date after March 2; however, all inventories must be completed by May 15.
What if I do not meet proficiency on the MTTI?
The MTTI is for reporting and professional development purposes only. Individual data will not be available and results cannot be traced to a specific individual. The MTTI will help the teacher identify his/her areas of greatest need in meeting the Maryland Teacher Technology Standards. Results that indicate a teacher is below proficiency will have no effect on certification and will not be used as part of the teacher evaluation process.
Who do I call if I am experiencing technical problems?

School Administrators
What is the Maryland
School Administrator Technology Inventory?
The Maryland School
Administrator Technology Inventory (MSATI) is a self-rating tool which has been
designed to help determine the technology knowledge and skills of Maryland
school administrators. The questions are based on the Maryland Technology
Standards for School Administrators which were developed from Standard 6 of
the Maryland Instructional Leadership Framework and were accepted by the
Maryland State Board of Education in 2007. The inventory was created
through the work of a consortium of local school district representatives and
the Maryland State Department of Education.
All data will be treated confidentially. Data from the inventory will be used
by the Maryland State Department of Education to complete its federally
required reports and by local school systems to plan professional development
opportunities. Based on this self-rating tool, you can identify your strengths
and areas in which improvements can be made. You will be able to use the
results from the inventory to develop a plan that will efficiently bring your
activities into alignment with the Maryland Technology Standards for
Administrators.
The inventory is for reporting and professional development purposes only and
will not be used to evaluate your performance as a school administrator.
