Office of Government Relations

​This office is the Department’s official liaison to the Maryland General Assembly, and collaborates with other state agencies, local education agencies, and key stakeholders on issues affecting the Department, with an emphasis on:

  • Providing accurate and timely information on educational issues to state and local policy makers;
  • Serving as a liaison between the State Board of Education, the Department, and elected officials;
  • Evaluating and determining the impact of legislation on Department priorities; and
  • Developing regulations and policies to carry out the mission of the Department.
