Kyle J. Smith is a senior at North Point High School for Science, Technology, and Industry in Charles County, Maryland. After a rigorous interview and selection process, he was accepted as an engineering student. He is goal-oriented and committed to academic excellence, currently ranking tenth out of his class of 457 students. During his junior year, he served as the vice president of the Charles County Association of Student Councils, state legislative affairs coordinator for the Maryland Association of Student Councils, and prosecutor for his school mock trial team. In addition he has been an outspoken member of the Charles County Youth Council of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), serving as president of the youth council for two years. He served as class president during his sophomore year as well. He looks forward to advocating on behalf of the students of Maryland and empowering as many students as possible about the importance of student advocacy, activism, and involvement. He will pursue a career in public service and a degree in public policy after graduating high school.
