At the Maryland State Department of Education, we are a dedicated team of educators, specialists, and administrators joined together by a single vision: to be a system of world-class schools where students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for success in college, career, and life.
The Maryland State Board and Maryland Department of Education are developing a multiyear Strategic Plan that will be released in three phases leading up to June 2023. The Strategic Plan will anchor the vision, mission, values, priorities, enablers, goals, and flagship programs, initiatives, and strategies to realize the Blueprint for Maryland's Future promise of an excellent and equitable education for every student.
This report presents an update on the preparation for implementating Pillar 3: College and Career Readiness, which reimagines that today's students must know and be able to do by the end of the 10th grade. The Blueprint establishes the standard that will signify a student is college and career ready. Once a student is designated as meeting or exceeding the CCR standard, they will pursue college and career pathways.
Maryland has more than 1,400 public schools in 24 public school systems serving all of the State's 23 counties plus Baltimore City. We are pleased to share the most current information available to help our stakeholders measure student achievement in all 24 districts from year to year.
The State Board and MSDE facilitated a Regional Data Walk at Montgomery County Public Schools that highlighted information on Strategic Plan priorities, enablers, and data related to North Central schools. The presentation provides an up-close look at student and educator data, demographics, and achievement outcomes.
