The MTAC will provide a venue for teachers to become advocates for their students and their profession through input into the decision-making process. MSDE is seeking a diverse group of teachers from across the state that represent all levels and subject areas to accurately reflect public education in Maryland. There will be a concerted effort to include teachers at various levels of their career cycle, including teachers who have fewer than 5 years of teaching experience.
The purpose of the council is to provide feedback to the State Superintendent on the initiatives of MSDE and the Maryland State Board of Education, to inform professional development strategy and to empower teachers to discuss topics critical to their success in the classroom and how MSDE can assist.
