The Office of Accountability at the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is dedicated to promoting transparency, equity, and continuous improvement throughout the state’s public education system.
This office plays a key role in ensuring that schools and districts are held responsible for student outcomes by overseeing data collection, performance monitoring, and compliance with state and federal requirements. The Office of Accountability is comprised of four key divisions: the Division of Assessment and Accountability, the Division of Educator Effectiveness, the Division of Rehabilitation Services, and the Division of Student Support and Federal Programs. Together, these divisions work to support data-driven decision-making, enhance educator performance, provide critical student services, and improve educational opportunities for all Maryland learners.
