The Maryland State Board of Education (MSBE), Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE), and the Accountability and Implementation Board (AIB) have collaborated to release a set of education metrics to track the progress of public education in Maryland. These metrics are the result of an analysis of three state education plans:

The metrics selected and approved by the State Board and the AIB are aligned with all three plans and cover student outcomes such as achievement and attendance, as well as staffing inputs and outcomes such as teacher diversity and retention. Each metric includes a baseline from the 2023-2024 school year and a three-year aspirational target for the 2026-2027 school year.
