The Office of Equity Assurance and Compliance (OEAC) ensures that the Maryland State Department of Education maintains a workplace free from unlawful discrimination to MSDE employees, applicants, and members of the public in accordance with federal and state civil rights laws and regulations. OEAC provides technical assistance to Department employees and Maryland’s 24 local education agencies regarding compliance with non-discrimination in employment and education.
Individuals interested in filing a civil rights complaint about a
local education agency should contact that agency’s Fair Practices and/or Civil Rights office directly.
