The Performance Support and Technical Assistance (PSTA) Branch focuses on building the capacity of local school systems, public agencies, and institutions of higher education to accelerate student learning in order to narrow the performance gap and enable all students with disabilities to leave school college, career and community ready.
The Branch works collaboratively with other Divisions within the Maryland State Department of Education to improve performance on statewide accountability measures and achievement of the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards. Local school systems receive differentiated support and technical assistance based on State and local needs to support implementation of a highly effective seamless, evidence-based early childhood intervention and special education system of services, birth through 21.
The Branch provides professional learning and technical assistance to support the development, implementation, and evaluation of specially-designed instruction, including a focus on evidenced-based practices implemented with fidelity to improve results for students with disabilities and their families.
