Xiomara V. Medina, M.Ed, is a dedicated educator and counselor currently pursuing a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Bowie State University. With a Master of Education in School Counseling from Bowie State, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from New York University, and an Associate of Arts in Spanish from the College of Alameda, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her roles in education and mental health.

As the Associate Director of Clinical Training and Field Placement at Bowie State University, Xiomara manages field placements, builds partnerships with community agencies, and ensures the integration of experiential learning into the counseling curriculum. She also contributes to maintaining accreditation standards and provides training for students, faculty, and field instructors. In addition, she worked as a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor where she offered individual, couples, and bilingual counseling services, supporting clients with diverse needs.

Xiomara’s extensive background includes her role as a school counselor in the Howard County Public School System, where she provided emotional and academic support to students and led critical school-wide initiatives. She has also presented on education, leadership, cultural competency, and mental health at local, state, and national conferences, highlighting her expertise and thought leadership in these areas.

Her contributions to the field have been recognized with awards such as the 2017 Graduate Student of the Year by the Maryland School Counselor Association. Xiomara remains actively involved in professional organizations, including the American Counseling Association and the American School Counselor Association, where she continues to advocate for diversity, equity, and mental health in education.
