Teaching Fellows for Maryland Scholarship

The Teaching Fellows for​ Maryland Scholarship is awarded to students who pledge to work as public school or public prekindergarten teachers in Maryland upon completion of their studies at schools that have at least 50% of the students in the school eligible for free or reduced-price meals (FRPM). Visit the Maryland Higher Education Commission website for details.

Fee Scholarship Program for National Board Certification

Maryland provides fee support to initial and renewal candidates obtaining National Board Certification who qualify to participate in this program. Visit the MSDE National Board Certification webpage for more information.

Salary Increases for National Board Certification

Teachers with National Board Certification working in Maryland local education agencies may earn up to $17,000 in salary incentives. Visit the Blueprint for Maryland's Future website for more information.


Reemployment of Retired Teachers and Principals

Retired teachers may be exempt from an earnings limitation if they are reemployed as classroom teachers, substitute teachers, or teacher mentors in a public school that:
  • Is receiving funds under Title I and as implemented by the State;
  • Provides an alternative education program for youths or students who have been expelled, suspended, or identified for suspension or expulsion from a public school;  or
  • Has more than 50% of students attending who are eligible for free and reduced-priced meals (FARMs).

Retired principals may also be exempt from an earnings limitation if they are reemployed as principals in a public school under the same parameters listed above.
