What makes us unique?
Baltimore International Academy (BIA) has two signature programs, full Language Immersion and the International Baccalaureate. Language immersion program students learn core subjects (Science, Social Studies, Math, Target Language Arts) through one of five languages; Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Arabic, Russian or French. Students become fluent in speaking, understanding, reading and writing in their target languages. Beginning in the second grade, students receive one hour of English language arts daily to learn the mechanics of their native tongue. International Baccalaureate (IB) students learn through inquiry-based instruction, project-based assessments, and collaborative group work. The international mindedness and critical thinking skills they gain by learning through the IB programs is already setting them apart; their scores are higher than their City counterparts in the State’s reading and math assessments.
Community:
BIA hosts cultural and fund-raising events. We have a cultural event for each of our target languages (Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, French). We have donated funds and goods to homeless shelters, women’s shelters (in Baltimore area), to Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the Philippines (hurricanes and earthquake disasters).

Principal's Message:
I am most proud of my school community when...
- We host cultural and fund-raising events. We have a cultural event for each of our target languages (Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, Russian, French). We have families who attend whose children are in different target languages than the ones sponsoring the programs; they come to support the school, their friends’ children, and because they enjoy themselves. Our parents are very open-minded to the diversity that the school offers.
- Our parents are generous with their time and money when we have fund-raising events, including when we raise money to help places that have fallen victim to natural disasters. We have donated funds and goods to homeless shelters, women’s shelters (in Baltimore area), to Puerto Rico, Haiti, and the Philippines (hurricanes and earthquake disasters).
