What makes us unique?
Baltimore Montessori Public Charter School is a mission-driven school in Greenmount West, the urban heart of Baltimore’s Arts and Entertainment District. Together with our community partners and families, we transformed two vacant buildings and an empty lot, and opened our doors in 2008 as Baltimore’s first public Montessori school. Today, our school features beautiful spaces for learning and play, high quality learning environments for students beginning at age 3, Seed to Table - our thriving student-powered cooking and gardening program, supportive and visionary leadership, talented and dedicated staff, and a dynamic and engaged parent community.
Community:
- Providing enrollment and outreach support for local schools looking to boost enrollment, through school partners directly and through advocacy groups like Live Baltimore.
- Providing space and programming support for the Greenmount West Community Center Foundation.
- Connecting families to comprehensive mental health supports through range of supports through A Better Tomorrow Starts Today, in addition to supports from Family and Child Services, and free parenting workshops through the Family Tree of Baltimore.

Principal's Message:
I am most proud of my school community...
- When we are leaning into the hardest moments of this incredibly challenging work
- When a teacher is relentless in her quest to find the right approach to unlock the potential in every student, particularly students who are difficult to reach
- When staff engages in rigorous reflection and difficult moments of self-examination, in order to better prepare ourselves to serve our students, such as with our recent equity audit
- When we allow children to show us the way, like with a recent and very successful camping trip completely planned and organized by students
- When students and their parents become ambassadors and advocates for our approach, sharing from their hearts the impacts our community has made
- When families express a sense of belonging, especially if they have been searching for a long time for a school to call home
- When we are striving to be better than we were yesterday at serving families with dignity and integrity, and fulfilling the promise of our mission for every student who walks in our door.
