Digital Recruitment Steering Committee

The Digital Recruitment Steering Committee was established through the enactment of House Bill 1415, Commission on Innovation and Excellence in Education (2018).

This bill establishes a Digital Recruitment Steering Committee that is charged with developing an outreach program within the Maryland State Department of Education and a digital recruitment platform aimed at encouraging individuals to enter the teaching profession in Maryland. The bill states that the Steering Committee must include individuals from ethnic, racial, gender, and other demographic groups and include both faculty and student representatives of historically black colleges and universities and other institutions of higher education.  The Governor is required to appropriate at least $250,000 in the annual State Budget to implement the outreach program and digital recruitment platform.
