School Library Media Program

The Maryland School Library Media Program provides leadership, coordination, and support services for the implementation of the Maryland School Library Media Standards for Learners, Librarians, and Libraries.

An effective school library media center requires a certified School Library Media Specialist with dedicated support staff. The School Library Media Specialist is a leader, teacher, instructional partner, program administrator, and information specialist who is instrumental in creating a welcoming and flexible space that encourages creativity, critical thinking and problem solving to ensure college and career success.
