STEM education is an approach to teaching and learning that integrates the content and skills of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The mission is to promote and improve STEM education in order to inspire and prepare Maryland’s students to be career and college ready and STEM proficient members of society.

Vision Statement

Maryland’s vision is to be a leader in STEM education, preparing and inspiring generations of learners to meet the challenges of the global society through innovation, collaboration, and creative problem solving.

Maryland Department of Commerce

Maryland STEM Connect

The Maryland Department of Commerce just launched Maryland STEM Connect, a repository of Federal and Military agency STEM programs in the form of an interactive database. The purpose of this initiative is to demonstrate and promote the many diverse STEM activities to educators, students and parents. Federal agencies, from NASA to Fort Meade, offer engaging activities to encourage students from all ages to pursue STEM education and careers. We request that our educational partners help us promote this initiative by reaching out to your community.
