If you are employed as a teacher, administrator, or specialist by a MD public school system, nonpublic special education facility, the Archdiocese of Baltimore or Washington, or a MD State Institution, please contact your employer to discuss your certification needs.

Certification Information Center

In response to the State of Emergency as a result of COVID-19, the telephone assistance line has been suspended.  During this time, the Certification Branch will respond to certification inquiries sent to certinfo.msde@maryland.gov. Once the State of Emergency is concluded, the telephone assistance line will reopen and all email communications will be suspended.

The Certification Information Center is closed on state holidays.

The MSDE communicates to applicants and existing educators via email. Keep your email address up to date through your portal account. Should you have difficulties updating your email on the portal, or if you do not have access to the portal, please contact the Certification Assistance Line.
