What makes us unique?
We focus on the health of our students in the following three categories: academic/intellectual health, social/emotional health, and physical/nutritional health. The responsibility of all those connected with The Belair-Edison School—parents, teachers, administrators, board members—is to provide an effective learning environment in which our students can develop a strong sense of self, academic proficiency, and awareness of others.
By making the healthy, balanced lifestyle a core part of our mission, we recognize and celebrate the connection between being fit and healthy and being smart with a love of learning. It is our goal to prepare our students for the high school of their choice with these things in mind.

I am most proud of my school community when I join students and teachers in a restorative circle to solve problems and celebrate one another.
School Merger:
Afya Public Charter School merged with Brehms Lane Public Charter School in 2019 to become The Belair-Edison School, a dual-facility PreK-8 school in the Belair-Edison neighborhood. Middle school grades remain at the Brendan Campus (the former Afya PCS) and elementary grades remain at the Brehms Campus (the former Brehms Lane PCS).
