The mission of the Human Resources Branch is to support and maintain the Maryland State Department of Education's goals by providing quality customer service, fostering a positive work environment, recruiting talented and qualified applicants, and retaining our capable and committed diverse workforce. MSDE's Human Resources Branch consists of two sub-branches, the Recruitment and Staffing Branch and the Employee Relations and Services Branch. The goal and mission of these branches are to recruit qualified applicants, retain valuable employees, and provide support and guidance to existing MSDE team members.

Employee Relations & Services
Employee Relations and Services Branch is a one-stop operation that provides high-quality and consistent customer service to all MSDE staff in matters related to employee pay, benefits, retirement, leave, and personnel matters to promote MSDE as a desirable employer and thriving workplace. The branch is responsible for conducting investigations, administering discipline, and administering performance evaluations.
