To provide the Maryland State Board of Education with a recommendation to revise or validate the current comprehensive health education standards and framework.
Through several in-person and virtual meetings, the Comprehensive Health Education Standards & Frameworks Validation Committee (SFVC) will study emerging state and national public health trends to ensure Maryland’s PreK-12 comprehensive health education programs meet the complex needs of all students, especially those who have been historically underserved.
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) underwent a rigorous selection process to identify the applicants whose backgrounds and experiences best align with the SFVC's mission. The applicants included a diverse cross-section of Maryland citizens, including parents, teachers, local education agency leaders, and associated content experts.
The selected volunteer committee members bring many backgrounds, expertise, and knowledge to the work of the SFVC and represent a broad and diverse range of parents, educators, and private citizens from across Maryland.
